
Offered by Santa Cruz County Office of Education ROP. The field of environmental horticulture science is quite broad encompassing the functional, aesthetic, and environmentally sound creation and care of our urban and natural landscapes. Biological and scientific principles learned in class will help to improve our quality of life and ensure the sustainability of our environment. Relevant topics studied include landscape ecology, ecosystem restoration & management, sustainable use of natural resources, and urban landscape design and management. Hands-on activities in the outdoor study laboratory will help improve analytical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills. The range of business services and manufacturing industries supporting environmental horticulture will also be studied.
This course meets the UC/CSU requirements for college prep elective credit (G)

Credits: 5 per semester plus Internship
